This week saw the debut of a brand new direct to consumer release program from Boom! Studios. Boom! Dropped 3 exciting new books straight to comic collectors via their webstore.  This is just the beginning of what looks to be a brand new ongoing initiative at Boom!. The first offerings saw a diverse array of Boom! Books all available in limited quantities. I am a big fan of the direct to consumer approach with limited quantity variants.  On June 2nd Boom! dropped a Magic #1 Ashcan that was originally meant for conventions.  They sold a limited quantity of 450 copies...

BRZRKR #1, a comic created and written by movie star Keanu Reeves, only just released on March 3rd of this year, and today Neflix has announced its plans to release both a live-action movie and a follow-up anime of the series. Released from BOOM! Studios, BRZRKR is Reeves’ first venture into comic book writing. The comic is co-written by Matt Kindt (Mind MGT and JLA) and features gritty art by Ron Garney (Amazing Spider-Man and Hulk) with colors by Bill Crabtree (Invincible and The Sixth Gun). John Wick meets The Old Guard in Keanu Reeves’ first foray into comics, which leaned heavily on star power, shock and awe. While the core story has the foundation for a good series, it is territory Wolverine marked for his own decades ago.
