Jonboy Meyers Interview for Frankie’s Comics, by Angela Rairden

artist interview Emerald City Comic Con Emerald City Comic Con 2021 interview Jonboy Meyers

Emerald City Comicon descended upon the city of Seattle the weekend of December 2nd through 5th, 2021. Frankie’s Comics had a large booth located in the vendor’s hall and I stopped by it every day that I attended the convention. At their booth, Frankie’s hosted three remarkable comic book artists – Rose Besch, Ivan Tao, and Jonboy Meyers.

This was my first time meeting any of these artists, and I found them all to be friendly, amiable, and genuine. Jonboy was even kind enough to set some time aside for me to interview him for the Frankie’s blog.

My initial plan for this interview was to type it out, as I’d never conducted a video interview before and I consider myself much more of a write than a vlogger. However, Jonboy put so much thought into his answers that, ultimately, keeping it as a video just made more sense.

Jonboy has been working in the comics industry for 25 years. He began as the Marketing Director of MV Creations before he decided to take a risk and follow a dream he had to be a full-time artist. It was a risk that paid off because, after submitting some Spider-man samples to Joe Quesada and CB Cebulski, Jonboy was hired on as the artist for the comic Marvel Age Spider-man. Not a bad way to break into comics, if you ask me.

Since then, Jonboy has done art and illustrations for Marvel, DC Comics, League of Legends, and World of Warcraft, to name just a few. Frankie’s fans will also recognize some of his fantastic Frankie’s Comics exclusive covers, as well.
